Flight School Cost in Chino
How much does flight school cost in Chino?
Build a realistic flight-training budget before you commit. Compare aircraft rental, instruction, testing and supplies, then ask DuBois Aviation for an estimate that matches your goal and schedule.

"The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging, and the facility is clean and professional."
"It is a great school for any pilot from no flight time to someone working toward more advanced goals."
A realistic private-pilot budget
DuBois Aviation currently publishes a planning budget of approximately $20,000 for private-pilot training. This is a planning figure, not a fixed-price package or a promise that every student finishes for that amount. Your aircraft, lesson frequency, preparation, training progress and testing costs affect the total.
Our published single-engine instructor rate is $69 per hour. Aircraft rental is separate. Ask the school to confirm the aircraft rate, what is included, how flight and ground time are billed, and the effective date of your estimate. School pricing facts were last reviewed 2026-09-05; rates are subject to change.
What to include in your flight-school cost estimate
- Aircraft rental: estimated dual and solo hours multiplied by the rate for the actual trainer you will use. Confirm whether fuel is included.
- Instruction: flight instruction plus ground instruction, briefings and checkride preparation. Instructor time is not always the same as aircraft time.
- Ground school and materials: a course, study materials, charts and any required subscriptions.
- Medical and tests: any required medical examination, FAA knowledge test, practical-test examiner fee and aircraft rental for the checkride.
- Equipment and a reserve: headset or rental, supplies, and a contingency for additional practice, weather interruptions or a retest.
Why the FAA minimum is not your final price
The FAA explains the minimum flight-time requirement for a private pilot certificate with an airplane rating under Part 61 is 40 hours. Meeting a minimum does not mean you are automatically checkride-ready. Ask for a realistic estimate based on your experience, rather than an advertised minimum-hours price alone.
How to keep your training budget on track
Choose a lesson schedule you can sustain, prepare before each lesson, and review progress with your instructor. Compare the expected total cost, not just the cheapest hourly rental. Repeating lessons after long gaps can offset a lower hourly rate. Read our guide to training frequency versus hourly rate.
Paying for your training
Compare your own savings, scholarship opportunities and any financing you are considering before committing. Loan eligibility, interest and repayment terms are decided by the lender, not the school. See our flight-training financing and scholarship checklist.
